Young People and the Big OE:
plans and expectations
NOTE: For this research a definition of ‘Big OE’ is not provided. Please use what you consider to be a common definition of the ‘Big OE’ when answering these questions.
This on-line questionnaire about the Big OE is part of a large project led by Dr Christian Schott which examines the Big OE in terms of what motivates young people to go, where they go, and what they experience whilst on their Big OE. The online questionnaire aims to build a better understanding of some of these points by surveying young people before they depart on their Big OE and as such it would be great if you could complete this questionnaire (if you are between 18 and 30 years old and planning to go on a Big OE in 2010).
Before completing the questionnaire please read the following information about this research, which has been approved as ethical by Victoria University:
- Participants must be between 18 and 30, live in New Zealand and planning to depart New Zealand for a Big OE in 2010.
- While participation by a wide variety of young people is important to the success of the project completion of the questionnaire is entirely voluntary.
- All information collected will be recorded anonymously, and will be displayed in a non-attributable format so that it will be impossible to identify individual respondents.
- The data gathered will be stored securely and destroyed one year after the completion of the research project.
- The questionnaire will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
- The findings will be published in an academic journal and/or book and/or presented at conferences.
Your completion and submission of the questionnaire is understood as agreement with the research conditions outlined above. After completing the questionnaire please forward this email to others that are between 18 and 30 years old and planning to go on a Big OE in 2010.
